Rheem Air Conditioners History
Rheem was founded in 1925 by Richard S. and Donald L. Rheem. The company original purpose was to galvanize steel drums and other metal products.
In early and late 1930’s, Rheem began to develop water heater, space heating units, furnace and air conditioner for home.
In the late 1960’s, Rheem purchased Ruud manufacturing company, Ruud was known for pioneer in the water heating industry.
After purchased Ruud, Rheem entered the heating and air conditioning market and it expanded in the rapid grow ac market.
In 1987, Rheem was purchased by Paloma Industries of Nagoya, Japan.
