We have Trane air conditioners for 9 years

We had Trane central air conditioners for 9 years without problem. It was running well, until the contactors break.

The technician said, it was the contactors, so he replaces it. However, I noted my air conditioners never stop running after two or three months. I wasn’t home often.

I called him back and I couldn't reach him, so I called different technician to look at it and he said the previous technician replace it with the wrong contactors. The new technician also said there was something inside the ac units clogged the whole central air conditioner units.

He said I have to replace the entire air conditioner units to remove the material that clogged the system. I finding hard to believe him, so I called another different technician to look at it and he said the same problem.

It costs money to call for the new technician and now I have to replace my central air conditioner units because technician mess it up.

My Trane air conditioning units could have last longer then 9 years, if technician hadn't mess it up.

by: Numberous corrosion issues with Salt air

Purchases top of the line Trane heat pump/air c unit. After 2 months, the 24volt switch went bad.
After 9 months, corrosion caused a pinhole leak on the muffler on the (it has 2) freon leaked out.

After 15 months, the other muffler corroded, out of warranty, $500 repair plus the service guy showed me the entire condensor was corroded. Large pieces flaked off. Replaced that for another $200.

We only use our unit 3 months a year. Muffler is made out of steel. No protection from salt air. We are 1/4 mile from the beach. They wanted to wrap a rubber wet suite around the compressor. Inferior materials if you ask me.

I had one Trane air conditioner units and it lasts for 11 years without major problem. They are pretty good.

General Electric's central air conditioner business is now part of Trane central air conditioner units. Trane bought GE for $135 million in cash.

Trane central ac unit is good. I’m currently have 3 unit in service. I had 4, but hurricane Ike destroy one in Galveston. It had worked for 13 years in the salt air without serious problem.

I personally don’t like GE. Because it malfunction dishwasher, but I would choose Trane over most others central air units.

I have a 5 ton xe1000 unit installed in 97 and the compressor went out today. 14 years on the gulf coast (I'm talking 1 mile from the beach) the central air unit still looks perfect with no rust. Very pleased with how long this unit held up in my environment.

People on the island have gone through 2 to 3 units in the time I had this puppy. Time for another Trane. I'm not messing around with any other brands.

My Trane Hi Efficiency Weathertron heat pump is in AZ where it really gets used in summer. Not so much in winter. Its 20 years old.

MY father bought the house in cape coral Florida in 1999 and we look at the central ac unit, and we discovered it was put in 1987 we where thinking that we where going to replace it and to our surprise it another 12 years.

I want to go with a Train again but I'm not hearing that many go stories on the newer systems can anyone give me any advise.I heard lennox,reem, rude and carrier don't what to do.

I had Trane heat pump in my house for 33 years without major problems with it yet.

Trane central air conditioner is top brand in my opinion. The main thing is to do proper maintenance. You should clean the outside and inside coils once a year.

Changing the filters every 30 days is healthy for the
central air conditioning units.

The only work done on this Trane central ac was a relay and yearly cleaning.After 17 years of outstanding service it lost pressure on the high side where it turns to aluminum can not be repaired.Will be buying high efficiency Trane xr15 or xli16 with 95% furnace.
