Must Know Before Buying Lennox Central Air Conditioner

My home was built in 10/2007 in a new community. Everyone in my community has the same exact central ac unit from Lennox. Recently, 7/2010, my central air conditioner unit wasn't working properly.
Technician came out and had a diagnosis of a loose wire that caused the compressor to work overtime and burnt the wire and eventually the compressor went out. I was fairly confident that since it was something with the air conditioner (no wrong doing on my end), the ac units would be fixed and I'm back enjoying my ac unit.
It's been 3 weeks and my central air is still out of order. Lennox will warrant the parts up to 5 years but here’s the catch ... no coverage of the labor. I guess you better go to air conditioning schools to learn how to install a central air conditioner together b/c it's going to cost you over $500 just to change out the compressor.
The dealer/technician has been contacting a Lennox rep. for about a week and they won't call them back. I spoke with Lennox's customer affairs rep. and you might as well talk to a wall. The company stands behind their policy, not their product.
Their policy is ... We only supply parts under warranty and if we covered labor, your home would have costed you more than what you’ve paid for. Not joking, that is what the Lennox's customer affairs rep. told me.
I'm very disappointed with the customer service and the product to say the least. It makes me sick to my stomach to see them boast about their products and awards on their website when it's not the product Lennox stands by but their "policy." Policies evolve and so should the people who run the company. A portable AC window unit is more reliable than what I'm experiencing.
