I have a question about turning the indicator needle to FAN or ON. My mother turns the AC on and off without programming, just turning it on when it gets too hot and then turning the thermostat off when she gets cold. Are you then supposed to turn the indicator needle to the FAN or to ON?
My mother feels that running the AC without having the needle set to FAN will burn the motor up. Please if you can help us to know how to cool :( home, it would be greatly appreciated.

fan on or automatic

Keeping your fan on after your temperature has been reached will cause humidity in your home to rise. Your coil is wet and after reaching desired temperature keeping your fan on will cause humidity to rise. In cooling "auto" is recommended.

Fan On vs Auto

The fan switch on your thermostat is just for indoor blower motor. If it on ON, it means your indoor motor will run nonstop until something break.

The ON position does not have anything to do with your condenser fan motor.
