American Standard Central Ac Not Cooling

by Richard M
(Houston, TX)

Last spring I had a new 2 and 1/2 ton central air conditioner installed. The central air units they replaced had a freon leak but when properly charged it cooled great. It was also a 2 and 1/2 ton central air unit. The central ac has 410a in it.

I have another central ac unit of the same type as the original ac unit running in another part of the house. It still cools great. I have had the guys that installed this new ac unit out several times.

They cannot give me adequate cooling out of this ac unit. Is is possible that with 410a you can't get cooing like you could with R22?

American Standard Not Cooling

It not the 410A (Puron) refrigerant causing the problem; it is the American Standard Unit.

Central ac should cool properly with 410A refrigerant. The difference between R22 and 410A is pressure and 410A is blend refrigerant.
