Freon Valve

by arnaldo
(Philladlephia)

My Airtemp 1104-02 central ac unit is not cooling my house, so I call the service man. He said it needs recharging but he will have to put a valve on the line for him to charge it. Does all central air should have a valve already there for you to recharge the system?

Ac Freon Valve
by: Dadan

Yes, central air conditioner has a valve. Is this split central ac system?

If this is split system. There is condenser outside. From the condenser unit, you have two copper pipe going to the house.

One copper line is insulated and the other are bare. There is schrader valve for the bare and insulated copper line. The schrader valve sometime has a cap.

A picture of the outside unit could help a lot with your question.
