Condenser coil

by David
(Kennesaw, GA)

Our central air conditioner unit is 6 years old and there is a leak in the compressor coil (the coil in the outside unit).

The cost for repair ($200-$400) of the leak, with no great confidence it will last is fairly high (especially given $246 for a re-charge and diagnostics already). The leak is in the fin area, so not likely anything to do with installation issues. It is not in an area where it gets knocked around.

We have azone system and expected the Goodman, installed by former home owner, to be a given for a while and that we would have to replace the Trane central ac in the shorter term as it was 15 years old when we bought the house. Now, three years later, the Goodman is dying.
