I can believe that the system is from the 70's based on its appearance and size. I know it was working last year when I did my walk throughs before buying the home.
I guess I will try and have it serviced before turning it on this year and hope it lasts for another 2 years before replacing it with a new system that can do both heat and ac.

Hire Technician by: Dadan
I'm guessing you had an inspection done on your home before you bought it. Just to be on the safe side.
You should hire someone to look at the entire central ac units. Older unit tends to last longer and better. But, there is always something.

Sorry, I couldn't help you with that.

Any info on my central ac model by: Mike
I just called the York number you provided. After taking all my contact info they transferred me to a local authorized York dealer.
The lady there said that their database covered 1984-2004 models so the model number and serial number I provided must be before 1984 and they couldn't tell me anything. I can't believe its this hard to find out info on a ac unit.

Any info on central ac model by: Mike
I just double checked and the data plate says York Borg Warner. Model # MCB42-6A, serial # FM018803 with a cooling coil MCC42 installed. This thing must be really old if you guys can not find any info on it.
